Basil Rajapaksa

Our researcher found out that  Basil Rajapaksa is  a renaissance of Veera Puran Appu  who was the resourceful, courageous principal leader of the Matale Rebellion in 1848 which was the  last and  long line liberation struggle against the British.Puran Appu’s original name was  Veerahennedige Francisco Fernando, later it was changed as Puran  given by Ven. Kudapola thera. Subseqently Puran became Puran Appu.

As our researcher believes that  Basil is regretting about not having a patriotic, historic or  localized name which his brothers received  such as Gotabaya or Mahinda. Puran Appu was a most resourceful and courageous man who took a leading part in the uprising. Basil is also resourceful and courageous man in the country’s administration, Sihala Shasthra reveals.

Kudapola Thera blessed Veera Puran Appu to lead the rebellion and eradicate white enemies from the country. The question our researcher has iwasa why Ven. Elle Gunawansa thera still failed to bless Basil Rajapaksa to lead the country in future.

Veera Puran Appu stressed before he was executed if his mother had had a few more sons like him he would not have let white men to be in the country. Because of his patriotic and nationalistic thoughts, in every life Puran Appu was born, had a numbers of brothers. Even today Basil has Chamal,Mahinda and Gotabaya.
